He is used to packed stadiums, and now the poker rail too. On his BSOP debut, football superstar Neymar Jr navigated Day 1 of the R$25,000 BSOP Invitational and bagged a healthy 756,000 chips, booking his place among the 60 players who advanced to the final day.
Right in the mix
Neymar ended Day 1 in 14th of the survivors from a 171-entry field — a strong debut showing at one of the toughest invitational fields on the Brazilian calendar. The chip lead belonged to Marcio Clare (2,068,000), with Colombian Carlos Serrano close behind on 1,650,000.
A field full of names
The Invitational is famous for its who’s-who guest list, and this edition was no different, featuring seasoned Brazilian pros such as André Akkari, Rafael Moraes, Felipe Boianovsky and Fabiano Kovalski. Play resumed with blinds at 5,000/10,000 and a big blind ante, late registration still open into level 15.
Neymar’s growing love for the game is no secret, and reaching the final day of an event this stacked is a genuine result — not just a celebrity cameo.
